Here is exactly what you can expect during your journey with us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your initial consultation is all about understanding the whole picture. It lasts 45 minutes and is divided into three simple steps:

  • The Discussion: We will sit down and thoroughly discuss your current symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and your specific goals.
  • The Assessment: I will look at your posture, mobility, and how your body mechanics function as a whole. This standing examination is done fully clothed. With your explicit consent, I may request to gently move or lift a layer of clothing if we need to visually assess a specific area of restriction or swelling.
  • The Treatment: If it is safe and appropriate to do so, we will begin your tailored treatment during this very first session.

Because the standing examination is done clothed, we highly recommend wearing comfortable, loose, or flexible clothing. Items like gym shorts, leggings, tracksuits, or a loose t-shirt are ideal. Your comfort is always paramount, and we will always work completely within your comfort level and boundaries.

Because every body is different, your treatment plan will be uniquely yours. Depending on your condition, your comfort level, and your goals, your treatment may include a combination of:

  • Gentle joint mobilization and soft tissue release to ease restriction.
  • Highly advanced manipulative therapy (structural adjustments) to improve joint function.
  • Western medical acupuncture (dry needling) to target deep muscle tension and pain pathways.
  • Gentle, pacing-focused techniques for sensitive nervous systems or complex, chronic pain condition.

Osteopathic techniques are generally very gentle and physically reassuring. You may occasionally feel a bit of localized tenderness or a “stretching” sensation during deep muscle work, but it should never feel unmanageably painful. I will communicate with you throughout the session to ensure the pressure is exactly right for you.

It is completely normal to feel a bit like you’ve done a light workout for 24 to 48 hours after treatment as your body adjusts to its new alignment.

No. Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners, which means you can book an appointment directly with us without any referral from a doctor or specialist.

There is no “one size fits all” answer to this. An acute injury might resolve in 2 to 3 sessions, while chronic, complex, or multi-system conditions may benefit from longer-term management and pacing. At your first appointment, we will establish a clear, realistic management plan so you know exactly what to expect moving forward.
